Ridiculously Last-Minute Things To Do This New Year’s Eve

I wasn’t going to write anything this week. I planned on taking a much-needed break and simply enjoying these lulling days between Christmas and New Year’s. But then I thought, I started this site this year and it wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t write something to cap off 2017.

And here we are.

To finish off 2017, it’s only fitting that I write about the events taking place in the city to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style. If you already have plans, then cheers to you! But if you are still in search for something to do, keep reading. It’s time to get familiar and make a decision on what to do! Here are some last-minute options:

Wondergarden
Where: Silo Park

This New Year’s Eve festival has everything – great music, food stalls serving delicious food, art installations, and a fantastic location. People from all ages are welcome to party the year away at this event so friends and families can have fun together.

New Year’s Eve at Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen
Where: Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen

The Beat Council is playing at this New Year’s Eve party. That is all the reason you need to consider this as a viable option for your New Year’s Eve celebration. These guys are insanely talented; you will no doubt be dancing your ass off because I’m telling you they are that good.

Masquerade Ball
Where: Mikano Restaurant

This event is all about the glitz and glamour. Don your chicest black tie attire and add a fabulous mask to complete your look.  The entertainment is jam-packed with a famous illusionist, dancers, singers, and DJs to keep you going throughout the evening.

Sky Tower Fireworks Display
Where: Anywhere you can see a view of the Sky Tower

Let’s be honest, this is the main event of every New Year in Auckland. Some people come to the city just to see the fireworks display and head off the moment it is over. People have their go-to spots for the best views. I personally like going to the Viaduct because I always manage to score a good spot for unobstructed viewing of the fireworks no matter how late I arrive.

And there you have it, people. This is my last post for 2017. I hope you have an incredibly fun New Year’s Eve and a somewhat tolerable New Year’s Day. I say tolerable because if you don’t feel like shit on the morning of January 1, then you didn’t party hard enough the night before.
