It has been since the dinosaur era since we last had a public holiday. So with the impending arrival of Labour Day, here are some ideas on things you can do in the city to make the most of the long weekend:
Bottomless Brunch
You don’t need an occasion to have brunch. But for this long weekend, why not take things up a notch and have a bottomless brunch. Choose between The Lula Inn and Gusto for your boozy afternoon get-together. You have an extra day to recover so that’s a bonus.
Auckland Diwali Festival
This year’s Auckland Diwali Festival is on October 20 and 21 at Aotea Square. So you can spend your Saturday or Sunday (Or both!), celebrating the city’s Indian culture. There will be plenty of tasty food, live music, and dancing for you to enjoy.
Nowhere! Festival
Over the long weekend, more than 50 artists from all around the world come together for the Nowhere! Festival where adventurous and avant-garde sonics reign. We’re talking “boundary-pushing sonic bombardment” – well, that’s what their website says. Venues include the Audio Foudation, Whammy Bar, and Silo Park. Check out UnderTheRadar to see the complete line-up, festival info, and to purchase tickets.
Go To The Spa
Like I said, it’s been a while since we’ve had a long weekend so you may want to (I’m just being polite; I really wanted to say that you should.) book an appointment at the spa. Relax. Get a massage! I can’t stress this enough. See what I did there? If you’re thinking about where to go, East Day Spa is always a good option.
And those are some ideas but no matter what you end up doing, have a great Labour Day weekend!
