The NZ International Comedy Festival returns this May for its 27th year bursting with lots of shows, comedians, and laughs.
This year’s Comedy Fest runs from May 2-26 so there’s plenty of time for you to have a good laugh.
Kicking off the 2019 festival in Auckland is the Best Foods Comedy Gala on May 2 at The Civic. Rhys Nicholson, Aussie comic and winner of Best International Show at last year’s Comedy Fest, is hosting the fancy gala with a packed line-up of local and international comedians including Urzila Carlson, James Acaster, Paul Sinha, Melanie Bracewell, Chris Parker, Becky Lucas, Jamali Maddix, Pax Assadi, Alice Snedden, Two Hearts: Laura Daniel and Joseph Moore, and Ian Smith. See, I told you it was a packed line-up.
Over at the Q Theatre, you can attend shows like the Raw Comedy Quest 2019 where upcoming comedians perform and compete to win $2500 and the Best Comedy Show on Earth where top international and local comedians perform sets in this fast-paced stand-up showcase.
Closing off the festival is the Electric Kiwi Last Laughs on May 26 at the SKYCITY Theatre. Join host Rhys Mathewson, Billy T and Fred Award winner, to see who wins the most coveted comedy prizes in the country; the Billy T and Fred Awards. See all the award finalists perform and celebrate the finale of this year’s Comedy Fest by laughing out loud.
