After a critically acclaimed West End run and a sell-out UK tour, the award-winning musical inspired by songs of American punk rock band Green Day will make its New Zealand debut this October.
Green Day’s American Idiot musical will run for a strictly limited season from October 10-20 at The Civic.
American Idiot tells the story of three boyhood friends searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong described the musical as a “coming of age in a politically-driven climate”.
As the name suggests, the musical features hit songs from the band such as Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns, Wake Me Up When September Ends, and of course American Idiot.
15 cast members from the UK and a four piece live band will take the stage for the New Zealand production.
