I feel like more and more events are popping up nowadays centred on wine and I’m not saying this as a bad thing. Case in point, we now have the first ever Auckland Wine Week taking place this June.
From June 13 to 23, winemakers from Waiheke Island, West Auckland, and Matakana join forces to showcase our stunning winemaking region. There will be several Auckland-centric events, tastings, and specials included in the schedule.
A dinner at Gusto at the Grand on June 13 serves as the launch event for the inaugural Auckland Wine Week in 2019. For $185 per person, diners will be treated to an Italian feast as a “Master of Wine” guides guests in exploring a wide range of wines crafted by winemakers in Auckland.
One of the key events during Auckland Wine Week is Winetopia where you can sample lots of incredible wine and, at the same time, grow your wine knowledge from industry experts. Winetopia, also known as the greatest celebration of New Zealand wine, is back for its fourth year in Auckland on June 14 and 15 at Shed 10 on Queens Wharf.
Over at The Seafarers Club in Britomart, an eight-glass wine tasting event on June 20 will take attendees through Auckland’s fine wine story. For $125 per person, each attendee will sample over $800 worth of wine that is not available to the public.
There are plenty of other events and activities happening as part of Auckland Wine Week, including in-store tastings at Glengarry stores around Auckland. Visit the Auckland Wine Week website for information on all events and tickets.
