I knew those lights put up last year along Viaduct Harbour’s seawall would be a good thing for the city and now we get to experience something stunning like the Bright Nights lighting experience.
From 6pm to late on Friday, May 11 to Sunday, May 13, more than a dozen lighting installations inspired by the theme of clean seas and sustainability will bring Viaduct Harbour to life. The event is curated by award-winning artist Angus Muir. Installations include an interactive wishing well in Market Square, projections onto the iconic America’s Cup boat KZ1, a silent disco, and lights and sounds dazzling everyone on the waterfront harbour.
This new lighting experience will feature a trail that makes its way through the Viaduct Harbour hospitality precinct, starting from the New Zealand Maritime Museum and finishing at Waitematā Plaza.
Restaurants along Viaduct Harbour will have special offers during Bright Nights to elevate your experience. At Giraffe by Simon Gault, mention ‘Bright Nights’ when you make your booking to receive a complimentary glass of Bollinger at 7:30pm. And this one sounds cool, Lalele Organic will be in Market Square with their glow-in-the-dark gelato. Yes, I know it’s cold but just imagine how good the picture will look.
Bright Nights is a free event and is suitable for all ages so expect everyone and their mother to come along – as they should since this event does lead up to Mother’s Day.
