This year, Chinese New Year falls on February 5 and to celebrate the start of the Year of the Pig, SKYCITY is hosting the Chinese New Year Federal Street Festival on the Friday following Chinese New Year.
For the festival, make your way to Federal Street on Friday, February 8 from 4pm-10pm to see live entertainment including traditional and contemporary Chinese performances (think somewhere along the lines of acrobatics and lion dancers).
There is also the Chinese garden village at the foot of the Sky Tower for you to explore. The garden features cherry blossoms, a romantic bridge walk, and stunning lanterns, which means this is the perfect area to take tons of photos.
And what’s a celebration without food? As part of the festivities, the Chinese Night Markets are also at the festival to serve an array of street food dishes including peking duck, pork wraps, dumplings, and steamed buns.
