It is so funny to me that people have a love it or hate it attitude towards Valentine’s Day – an occasion all about celebrating love. The irony in that is just amusing. Yes, there is somewhat of an extreme cheese factor to the whole thing but the way I see it, Valentine’s Day gives people another excuse to celebrate. And as a way to change things up this year, may I suggest that you step it up a notch and go on a date that fully embraces the cheesiness of Valentine’s Day. I am not talking about the typical romantic dinner, movie, or flowers. I am talking about John Cusack holding up the boombox in Say Anything cheesy. Yes, that level of cheesy. With that in mind, here are four date ideas for Valentine’s Day that will elevate the occasion to the next level. Say cheese!
1. Go out to dinner at a restaurant with a special Valentine’s Day menu because ordering from the restaurant’s normal menu is just not good enough. Stamford Plaza and The Grill by Sean Connolly have these Valentine’s Day menus. And bring along a bouquet of flowers with you.
2. Pick a nice hotel in the city and have a staycation. Step things up by lying rose petals and his or her favourite chocolates on the bed. Order champagne and room service and make a night out of it.
3. Go to the Robbie Williams concert at Spark Arena. Come on, Angels and She’s The One is going to hit you right in the feels – no question.
4. If the weather permits because it has not been kind lately, head to Silo Park to watch The Princess Bride. Bring with you food you prepared yourself or if you are not much of a cook, venture out to buy his or her favourite foods from different restaurants and bring that with you. If that does not scream sweet and thoughtful, then what is romance?
