You need to brace yourself because things are about to get real. As of today, we are only four Fridays away from Christmas! Yes, four Fridays! Given that I absolutely love this time of the year, I am ecstatic that the festive season is here. Christmas decorations are up. Christmas songs are being played. I am so ready for Christmas. If some of you are still stubbornly in denial, the annual Farmers Santa Parade is tomorrow so it’s time you get on board the festive train.
This year’s Farmers Santa Parade will begin at 1pm on Sunday, November 26 with a rain date of Sunday, December 3.
Brand new floats included this year are Thunder the Steampunk Dragon, Kids Rock, My Little Pony, and Thomas the Tank Engine.
The parade route starts at the corner of Cook Street and Mayoral Drive and moves down Queen Street and into Customs Street East.
And since Christmas is a time for giving, look out for bucket collections on the day for The Salvation Army and donate what you can so those in need can also have a very merry Christmas.
If you’re in the mood for an after party, head to Santa’s Party in Aotea Square after the parade to keep the festivities going. There will be rides, giveaways, and an international celebrity. Yes, international sensation Peppa Pig will take the stage and delight audiences with an outdoor performance.
Not to be outdone, rumour has it Santa will make an appearance at the after party as well. After all, you can’t name it Santa’s Party without the man himself. That’s just not right.
