Your Tuesday night plans are set as another vibrant round of Late Night Art is upon us. Set to take place this year on Tuesday, October 10 from 5pm to 9pm, galleries from around town will be open until late in the evening for everyone’s enjoyment.

As part of the annual Artweek, Late Night Art encourages visitors to enjoy interactive exhibitions, guided walking and cycling tours, and live art events. There are plenty of activities throughout the evening and here are several you may find interesting (well they sound interesting to me anyway):

streetARTdego
Where: Te Hā o Hine, Khartoum Place

An event where art and food come together will always be a goodie. Pairs of five street food chefs and five artists collaborate to create a unique dining and artistic experience. Enjoy tasty dishes inspired by the artist’s work.

Ice-Encased Flowers
Where: Roma Blooms

This installation sounds cool – pun absolutely intended. Exotic floral arrangements are frozen inside blocks of ice to enhance the beauty of the flowers and give spectators more time to fully appreciate every beautiful detail.

Drawing Club
Where: Little High Street

Hosted by Paris Kirby, the Drawing Club is your opportunity to try out drop-in figure drawing. No experience is required and materials are supplied. Perfect! Special guest DJs and models will be there and I’m totally down for drawing hot people.

Quick Draw
Where: Chancery Square

In just 10 minutes, the talented Quickdraw Sketch Gang artists will draw portraits on the spot that can be of you, your family, friend, or even pet. For an added twist, portraits will be drawn with their own unique style. This can range from zombified drawings to very serious pencil sketches.

KINALights
Where: Freyberg Square

This installation is expected to be a feast for the eyes. Orange road cones and rhythmic LED lighting convey the marine life and volcanic topography of Auckland. Obviously, visit when it’s dark to properly see the installation in its full glory.

And there you have it! These are just some of the activities happening on Late Night Art. For the full list of Late Night Art events, click here.
