Here are my picks of what is worth watching on the big screen in October:

Venom (October 4)
At first, I wasn’t keen to see Venom because I felt like I watch way too many superhero movies already (yes, I know the character is being called an “anti-hero” but I’m generally speaking about the genre here). But then I saw the trailer and I was impressed by it so much that I’m very keen to watch this movie now. What impressed me most about the trailer was seeing the quality actors that are a part of this film. You’ve got Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Woody Harrelson. I can’t wait to see them in this! Venom centres on journalist Eddie Brock (Hardy) who becomes the host for the alien symbiote Venom, which causes him to suddenly have superpowers.

First Man (October 11)
The life of astronaut Neil Armstrong and the history-making space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969 makes for a compelling story for a movie. And we can watch this said story with the upcoming film First Man. Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for First Man and if it is anything like La La Land, this film is going to be a treat.

A Star Is Born (October 18)
Lady Gaga has a starring role in a movie and that’s pretty much the selling point for me. I want to see if her acting is going to be good or bad. Also, I’m curious to hear Bradley Cooper’s singing voice. I want to hear if he is going to be good or bad. Yes, I know there’s a duet of him and Lady Gaga already released but I want to hear how he sings in the movie. A Star Is Born is about a seasoned musician (Cooper) who helps a young singer and actress (Gaga) find fame. This film also marks Cooper’s directorial debut.

Halloween (October 18)
Halloween is celebrated in the month of October so of course I’m including a scary movie on this list! I’m happy to say that the scary movie that made the cut is the new Halloween. I have been looking forward to seeing this film ever since the announcement was made about Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the franchise. Along with Michael Myers, Laurie Strode (Curtis) is an iconic part of this iconic franchise. I don’t need to give a plot synopsis; Curtis’ return is all the convincing you need to see this movie.
