Here are my picks of what is worth watching on the big screen during Christmas month:

Second Act (December 6)
Okay, hear me out on this one. So I know the movie looks like your stereotypical, classic, and predictable romantic comedy but that’s the best part about the movie. It’s your good ole fashioned rom-com! I feel like it’s been FOREVER since we’ve seen a rom-com get a wide theatrical release. This movie reminds me a lot of the rom-coms that came out in the 2000’s so I’m getting major flashbacks. The movie is even giving me a lot of Maid in Manhattan vibes and I fully welcome that. With everything that goes in our hectic lives, it’s nice to have a break from that by watching a movie like this. The story is about a big box store worker who lands her dream job by using her street smarts. The catch is, she was also helped by a friend’s son who, let’s say, embellished her Facebook profile with some fictional stories about her life.

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 (December 26)
I am so excited for this movie! Have you seen the trailer for it? If you have, then I feel like you can understand, or even share, my excitement. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, go watch it because I think it does an excellent job of teasing the movie as a whole. The little bit that they show of the scene with the Disney Princesses is already worth the price of admission. This sequel to Wreck-It Ralph takes places six years after the first movie. Ralph and Vanellope discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, which leads them into a new adventure… the Internet!

Aquaman (December 26)
Technology has really come a long way because based on what I have seen so far with the underwater scenes in the trailer, the special effects look spectacular and it’s going to be such a treat to watch it on the big screen in the cinema. Similar to Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, I mention the trailer because the trailer is what ultimately convinced me to see this movie because I wasn’t keen to see it initially based on what I saw in Justice League. Just to be clear, I’m not one of those who thought Justice League was a mess; I thought it was okay. But then that’s the thing, I thought it was just okay so I wasn’t really overly interested in seeing Aquaman. Until I saw the trailer. Aquaman is the story of Arthur Curry, the heir to the kingdom of Atlantis, who must step up to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.
