Do I enjoy cooking? Not at all. Truth be told, I barely cook as it is. Life can be quite hectic and the last thing I want to do when I get home is cook. Actually, one of my goals in life is to be rich enough to hire a personal chef so I don’t ever have to worry about cooking my own meal again. But just because I don’t enjoy the act of cooking, that doesn’t mean I am immune to the entertainment value of a fun cooking show.
I confess I am an occasional viewer of Food TV. Those cooking shows can be very fascinating and delightfully salivating to watch. I don’t plan on cooking any of the meals I see on these shows but I just can’t look away from the screen. The food always looks delicious. One of my favourite Food TV personalities is Nigella Lawson and she is coming to Auckland for a special event in February.
Presented by Auckland Writers Festival, join the domestic goddess on February 7 for Nigella: In Conversation. Hear stories about food and life during this intimate conversation event.
Lawson prefers to describe herself as a home cook and not a chef. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy watching her shows in particular. Her cooking comes across as relatable. Her dishes seem believably doable to do at home – not that I would cook them myself but at least they look as if I could do them. And speaking of looks, on a completely shallow level, she is absolutely gorgeous. I often just watch and marvel how fabulous she looks while cooking.
So beyond just the food and celebrity, this upcoming event is your opportunity to hear from one of the world’s most-loved food writers and broadcasters, and a successful author of several award-winning books. This evening is your chance to be entertained, feel inspired, and learn a thing or two from someone who is at the top of their game.
Nigella: In Conversation is at the ASB Theatre in Aotea Centre. General admission tickets are on sale for $37.50 via Ticketmaster.
