First birthdays are a big deal, which is why the Auckland Fish Market will (rightfully) celebrate its first birthday with a birthday weekend on December 14 and 15.

Food-related birthday activities will include sampling from Seafood School, Black Market Spices, Market Galley, and Good Chow. Plus, head to the courtyard from 2pm and hopefully you’ll be one of the first 100 lucky people on both days to be served free gelato.

Eateries of the Auckland Fish Market will be offering birthday specials to commemorate the milestone even more. Specials include ‘2 for 1’ coffees in the morning at Good Karma, whitebait fritters for $10 each at Market Galley, a special beers and bao combo at Azabu, and frosé for $8 each at The Wreck.

There will even be a brand new eatery opening in time for birthday weekend named Lobster & Tap. As the name suggests, the new eatery will be specialising in serving lobsters but more specifically, they will be your go-to for the lobster roll – just in time for birthday weekend and just in time for summer.

There will also be face painting, balloon twisting, circus performers, and live entertainment during the weekend.
