I confess I have not heard of The Play That Goes Wrong before writing this piece. I see the show has won a bunch of awards for Best New Comedy and appears to be quite a hit with audiences in the West End and Broadway. After reading more about the play, I’m not surprised audiences are keen to see it. The play sounds like a fun show that delivers relentless laughs.

The Play That Goes Wrong is at the ASB Waterfront Theatre from October 11 to 18. The play follows the fictitious theatre company The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society and the disastrous opening night of its performance of The Murder at Haversham Manor. The production tries to stage a 1920s murder mystery, but as you can see from the title, this is a play where everything implodes. You have missing props, actors forgetting lines, the set crumbling, the leading lady getting knocked unconscious, and a murder victim that can’t seem to play dead.

Created by Mischief Theatre, an actual London-based comedy theatre company, the play within a play is a full on slapstick and physical comedy featuring the UK touring cast.

With only a few tickets left, the show is proving popular. Buy your tickets here to make sure you don’t miss out on this entertaining catastrophe.
