A big sign that a person has achieved a formidable level of significance and influence is when the mere mention of their name carries with it the weight of all their accomplishments. In the legal world, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one such name. But let’s not forget that she has also achieved pop culture importance with the infamous moniker, Notorious RBG.

If you’re interested in learning more about the exceptional life and career of this notorious figure, Films For Change Auckland is hosting a screening of the documentary RBG on Monday, February 24 at Academy Cinemas.

Known to many as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, RBG, directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen, includes interviews with family, friends, colleagues, and critics, plus archival news footage documenting her career. An interview with the Justice herself is also in the documentary, in which she shares about her upbringing, passions, and how her husband helped make her profession possible.

The filmmakers also had access to exclusive home videos and family photographs, and footage of her working out with a trainer and rehearsing backstage for a speaking role, that allow audiences to see a different, and more personal, side to Justice Ginsburg.

The screening of RBG starts at 6:15pm and because the event organisers hired out the cinema for the screening, no ads or trailers are going to be shown before the film. In other words, don’t be late or you’re going to miss the start of the film.

Tickets are available for purchase via Eventbrite (tickets cannot be purchased at the venue). Adult tickets are $23 each and concession tickets for students and pensioners are $18 each.
