Capturing the very best in global photojournalism, this year’s World Press Photo Exhibition is open from June 30 until July 29 at the Smith & Caughey’s store in Queen Street.
Images displayed at the exhibit showcase the highs and lows of the previous year that are of great journalistic importance. It provides us with a very illuminating and eye-opening visual of the current state of affairs of our world – both the good and the bad.
The exhibition presents winning images from the 2018 World Press Photo contest, which drew entries of more than 80,000 images by more than 5,000 press photographers from around the world.
For 2018, the coveted honour of World Press Photo of the Year goes to Ronaldo Schemidt’s photo showing a man on fire amid violent clashes with riot police during a protest against President Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela. The photo looks horrifying (And it is!) but gladly the man survived the incident.
Tickets for the exhibition can be purchased on the ground floor kiosk inside Smith & Caughey’s. Tickets range from $10 to $20 each.
