THE Christmas parade in the country is back! The incredibly popular Farmers Santa Parade returns this year on November 25 starting from 1p.m. And believe this because it’s true; this year marks the 85th anniversary of the parade. 85 years!

To make this 85th year special, new floats featuring The Beginning of Time Dinosaur, The Nutcracker, and Captain Hook and The Lost Boys are set to make their parade debuts. These newcomers are joining regulars including Clifford the Big Red Dog, Peter Rabbit, Queen Elsa, Where’s Wally? and Farmers Santa Bears. The Muppets’ Kermit and Miss Piggy are also set to make an appearance and I just hope that in the spirit of Christmas there is not going to be any relationship drama between those two on parade day.

The parade route starts by Aotea Centre and ends by Customs Street East.

And because Christmas is a wonderful time for giving, there is going to be a collection for The Salvation Army during the parade so please donate however much you can.

If you haven’t been to a Farmers Santa Parade before, the city is going to be hectic. If you’re driving into the city, get there early, ideally before 11a.m. because that is when the inner city road closures start. There is also the option of using public transportation if you can’t be bothered with trying to find parking.

And if the weather is not on our side, the rain date is scheduled for December 2.
