I don’t think there’s a way for me to fully express to you how much I love fried chicken. As of this moment, I am currently writing this post very late in the evening that it’s torturing me that I’m writing about the return of Auckland’s Fried Chicken Festival and there is no fried chicken ready for me to devour.
It’s a good thing that the waiting game for the fried chicken won’t be too long as the Auckland Fried Chicken Festival is back on May 18-19 at Shed 10.
If you missed out on last year’s sell out festival at Parnell’s La Cigale French Market, it was incredibly popular. So popular that attendees found it very cramped and the queues felt never-ending. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better and it truly looks like organisers have made a conscious effort to improve the experience for those attending this time around. In an effort to cut down wait times and manage the big crowds, the festival moved to a larger venue. Also, it will be hosted over two days and each day will have a day and night session. There’s no need to worry about missing out on anything. Both sessions will serve the same food so you’ll still get your hands on that fried chicken you so desire whichever session (or sessions) you choose.
Street food vendors and restaurants setting up pop-up kitchens will be there to serve you all the fried chicken goodness you want. Set to appear are Peach’s Hot Chicken, Temaki Truck, Judge Bao, Mexico NZ, LowBrow, and The Coop. More vendors will be there so you’ll have an abundance of options.
Tickets for the Auckland Fried Chicken Festival go on sale Monday, April 8 from 7pm via Eventfinda. Last year’s festival sold out in 19 minutes so get in there quick if you want to go.
