After a 13-year absence, Cher is coming back to Auckland for a one-off concert in September as part of her Here We Go Again tour.
The epic show will be at Spark Arena on September 21.
The key word there is epic. I don’t claim to be a physic. I get that the show hasn’t happened yet so how would I know that it’s going to be any good? Well, the show will be epic because it’s Cher. Cher is epic. Her name alone carries a lot of weight.
Cher coming back to Auckland to perform didn’t actually surprise me since she mentioned that she will be touring Australia and New Zealand during her latest appearance on The Graham Norton Show promoting her new movie, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. She didn’t mention any concert dates during the interview so it’s nice that we have confirmed details now.
When I watched her interview on The Graham Norton Show, I screamed the moment she said she was coming to New Zealand. Obviously at the time she spoke of this return to our shores, I wasn’t sure yet on when she’ll be here but I immediately scrambled to think who would come with me to see Cher. Maybe my parents? I hope they are keen. Come on, it’s Cher! She is an ICON.
For her Auckland show, fans can expect to see a 90-minute extravaganza of lavish costumes, an elaborate stage production, and classic hits such as Believe, If I Could Turn Back Time, Strong Enough, I Found Someone, and I Got You Babe.
I listened to Believe just before I started writing this to get me in the right writing mood and now the song is stuck in my head. Sing it with me!
“Do you believe in life after love/I can feel something inside me say/I really don’t think you’re strong enough.”
Tickets for Cher’s 2018 show go on sale to the general public on 1pm on Wednesday, July 4 via Ticketmaster.
