I’m Curious About This New So Called Curious Food Festival

August is already an exciting month for foodies because August is Restaurant Month and during this time, us lucky diners get to enjoy dining events and pop-ups, appearances from international chefs, and, best of all, special menus at fantastic prices (who doesn’t love a good deal). So far, Restaurant Month has been running for eight years and to shake things up a bit for its 2018 run, we are getting a food event called The Curious Food Festival for the first time.

First of all, what a great name! I’m totally curious about what this Curious Food Festival is all about.

So the curiosity stems from the unique one-off dishes that over a dozen inner city restaurants will be serving at the festival. The festival describes these dishes as each restaurant’s most imaginative and delicious dishes – we’re talking cracked coconut rice burgers, black rice ‘banana split’, scallop dumplings, pasta cooked in a cheese wheel, and plenty of other intriguing dishes. Being from the Philippines, the dishes I’m personally most curious about are the ones from Manila Eats. Adobo and longganisa are classic Filipino foods so I’m curious how they will be served differently – or how different or alike it will taste in comparison to their traditional versions. Enlighten me, Manila Eats!

And to keep the festivities going, there will be lots of wine and craft beers on offer as well as entertainment from local DJs and circus performers.

The Curious Food Festival is on August 18 at the Shed 10 in Queens Wharf. Entry is $5 at the gate – unless you are one of the first 2,000 people through the door and you get in for free.
