They say it’s the spoonful of sugar we all need right now and I completely agree. The hit Broadway musical Mary Poppins will return to Auckland this October by way of a new, local production.
The strictly limited season will open on 2 October and finish on 17 October at The Civic.
The shows were originally scheduled to take place in April but were cancelled due to the lockdown. It’s nice to see that they were able to reschedule the season in the same year.
This production will feature an all-New Zealand cast performing classic songs such as Jolly Holiday, Step in Time, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Feed the Birds. And it’s been confirmed that yes, Mary will fly!
Don’t expect a duplicate of the beloved Walt Disney film. The stage show is adapted from the original book by P.L. Travers and the classic film, so there are additional characters and songs to get to know.
