If someone asks me, “Hey Mika, do you want to go to an event this Sunday that’s all about wine?” I would answer with a resounding, “FOR SURE!” If someone asks me this in a form of a message, I may even throw a NeNe Leakes gif in there to emphasise how keen I am to go to this event (NeNe makes for the best gifs).
The event I am referring to is the New Zealand Boutique Wine Festival, which is returning for its sixth year running this Sunday, June 10, at Imperial Buildings, Fort Lane.
I wouldn’t call myself a wine connoisseur but I’m always down for any event that involves lots of wine – emphasis on the word lots because this festival is a doozy. There will be over 30 small-production wineries from across the country on hand, which to me says there will be lots of wine tasting opportunities to be had. And according to the festival’s website, you can also indulge in a tasting lunch menu at Everybody’s, embark on vertical tastings, and take part in expert masterclasses.
Out of all the masterclasses available, the one that intrigues me the most is the Glass Appreciation Class presented by festival ambassador, Yvonne Lorkin. I mean I have separate red wine and white wine glasses at home so I have a basic knowledge of how this glass thing works but if I can enhance my knowledge on this matter, I would totally incorporate what I have learned from the class the next time I need to be the hostess with the mostest.
So if you are interested in going to the New Zealand Boutique Wine Festival for a day of wining, you can buy your tickets via the festival’s website. Door sales are available if they don’t sell out but the tickets are cheaper when you buy them online.
Enjoy your Sunday!
