Winetopia Is Back To Change How You Think Of Wine Tastings

As a big supporter of New Zealand wine (i.e. I’m a fan of drinking a lot of them), it would be a sin to miss an event dubbed as the “biggest public wine tasting event in New Zealand.”

The very popular Winetopia returns to Auckland this year on June 22 to 23 at Shed 10. Enjoy wine tastings, masterclasses, free talks, live entertainment, and food.

And when I say enjoy wine tastings, I mean ENJOY wine tastings. There will be 60 wineries on hand so you won’t have to worry about selection or choice. Just worry about how you’re getting home after this because this is not the time to be the sober driver. Take this advise, just don’t drive. You’ll have a more fun time.

Along with the wine, the food is also very important for such an event. After all, good wine and good food is a match made in heaven. And practically speaking, if you want to taste more wines, I suggest that you nibble on some food to soak up the alcohol. You don’t want to be that person that peaks too soon. Food offerings this year will be from Akemi’s Gyoza, Blue Rock, Salash Delicatessen, Chinoiserie, and Paella Pan – to name a few.

Speaking of wine and food, there’s a new exclusive masterclass this year on food and wine matching. This includes four premium wines matched with small tasting plates from Auckland restaurants: Clooney, Apéro and Cazador. There are other masterclasses on offer too but personally, I’m more interested in tasting the wines rather than learning about the wines. Maybe next time I’ll change my tune on this but for now, it’s all about the wine tasting.

General admission tickets cost $39 each and this includes entry to one session, five wine tastings, a Spiegelau wine glass, and free talks and entertainment.
