To celebrate the impressive manner in which we contained the impact of COVID-19, a free event called We Love Aotearoa will take place across The Cloud and Shed 10 in Queen’s Wharf on August 15.
A range of activities, live entertainment, workshops and food trucks will be held at the two-part event.
From 11am-3pm is what appears to be the family-friendly daytime event. There will be live entertainment, interactive art installations, games, workshops and activities including a silent disco, roller rink and VR (virtual reality) experience. Caluzzi drag queens Kita and Anita will also be there on the day. Plus, a selection of delish food that can be purchased from the likes of Wise Boys, Double Dutch Fries, The Rolling Pin, Mr Whippy and many more.
From 4:30pm onwards will be an R18 event of live shows taking place across two indoor stages. The full lineup consists of The Black Seeds, Ladi6, Leisure, JessB, Clicks, Sola Rosa, Frank Booker, Flamingo Pier (Live) and Tina Turntables. The live performances will be accompanied by licenced bars, food trucks, art and lighting installations, and the fabulous Kita and Anita. This evening event is a free ticketed event. Grab your tickets here.
A little fun fact – US billionaire gaming giant Gabe Newell, Spanish Aston Martin racecar driver Alex Riberas and his partner Teagan Klein helped to put this free event together as a way to say thanks for New Zealanders’ kindness and generosity during what was originally a 10-day holiday for the trio back in March but has now turned into an extended stay five months later.
